RESPECT FOR THE TERROIR
The quality of the terroir
was the main criterion guiding Silvio Denz when he was considering an investment in a "grand cru" vineyard.
He sees terroir
as an aspect of heritage, an asset that leaves no room for improvisation. He and director Alain Dourthe-Larrère are therefore very careful to treat the unique soils with respect. Some are traceable to the Lower Eocene
era and they need the greatest possible care and a vineyard that is optimised to ensure that the wine is the best possible expression of the terroir. This is especially true of the great hillside terroirs of Château Péby Faugères
and of the plateau and slopes of Château Faugères
